In today's society, there and innumerous ways to entertain ourselves and enjoy life to the fullest. It seems like everything is at our fingertips, all we have to do is to reach out and grab it. But sadly, sometimes having everything at our fingertips is'nt a good thing... I mean, its so easy to slip into carnality and just go about our business just like the world does. We have sources like TV & the internet where we can waste hours and hours watching videos, researching etc. Now dont get me wrong, im not saying these are evil! But when we start abusing these we start to develop an appetite for it and it slowly becomes part of who we are. In reality, everyone is trying to preach to you. Whether its through advertising or in movies, there is always something that is going to point out and direct a message to you. "Buy this product - its the best" How many times have we watched or heard something like this! Marketers know how to get customers through the door. And unfortunately, not everything is as it syas it is. But, I want you to think about how much time a day you spend watching TV or searching the internet. The average person watches 5 hours of TV a day - thats an astounding 9 years of your life! God has not called us to be a people that loves entertainment. Think of the Samson when he killed the Philistines. The Philistines loved to be entertained. In fact they loved it so much, it was also their graveyard. In scripture in Judges 16:25, the Philistines call Samson out to entertain them. They pluck out his eyes so he cannot see, and the Philistines mock and chant him on. But in there entertainment, they fail to see who this man was. A child then leads him to rest on the pillars of what's holding up the place where they are. Do you think maybe someone who was watching remembered this mans strength? How he killed a whole army with a jawbone of a donkey? Or even when he lifted the city gate together with the two posts and carried up to the top of Hebron? Obviously not! No one panicked when he rested the pillars, because they were to busy enjoying lifes pleasure. Then at a moment of suprise, all the people in that place died as Samson crushed the pillars with God's strength, and that building came down. There comfort and entertainment killed them. So it's a warning to us, don't let this spirit of comfort and pleasure rest upon you. Because it will gradually consume you and strangle ever spiritual aspect God wants for you in your life. Strive for Holiness and allow the Holy Spirit to change you.
